What to Expect: Family Photography That’s Relaxed, Natural and Fun

Booking family photos shouldn’t feel stressful, awkward, or like one more thing on your already overflowing list. At Wattle & Wildflower, my sessions are designed to be relaxed, playful, warm, and genuinely enjoyable — even for the kids and the husband who “don’t love photos.”

If you’ve been searching for what to expect family photography guidance, this page will walk you through exactly how my relaxed, natural and warm sessions work — from booking to sunset, studio, and everything inbetween.

Here’s exactly what to expect from the moment you enquire to the moment your final images arrive.

1. What to Expect Family Photography: Getting Started

You can get in contact to chat with me (Trish) or book online to secure your session.

No payment is taken upfront — you simply choose a date and time that works for your family.

Once your booking is confirmed, you can choose the package that suits your family best. After you’ve chosen your package and location (in‑studio or sunset), we secure your date with a 50% deposit.

Simple, clear, and stress‑free.

2. Choosing Your Session Style

You have two beautiful options:

Sunset Sessions

Held outdoors in the Samford area, these sessions are warm, natural, and full of movement.

  • Held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings

  • Start times vary throughout the year depending on sunset

  • If it rains or storms, you can move your shoot indoors or reschedule once (after that, a $150 rescheduling fee applies)

Studio Sessions

Perfect for little ones, hot days, or families who prefer a calm, light‑filled space. Our light filled Studio is 10 minutes drive from Samford Village.

  • Held any time on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturday mornings

  • Air‑conditioned, natural light, warm and inviting

Both options give you the same relaxed, authentic, earthy‑toned style you see on my website and Instagram.

3. Before Your Session: What You’ll Receive

Once your date is locked in, you’ll receive a warm, practical prep guide covering:

  • What to wear (earthy, natural tones photograph beautifully)

  • How to motivate the kids

  • How to get Dad on board

  • What to bring

  • What to expect when you arrive

  • How image delivery works

My goal is to take the mental load off you so you can simply show up and enjoy the experience.

4. What the Session Itself Feels Like

Most families tell me they’re nervous before we start — and then surprised by how fun and easy it actually is.

My style is relaxed, playful, and connection‑focused.

You won’t be standing stiffly in a line or forcing smiles.

Instead, we:

  • Play games

  • Run around

  • Tickle

  • Cuddle

  • Explore

  • Capture the in‑between moments

I guide you the whole way with gentle direction that feels natural, not posed or awkward. Kids warm up quickly, and dads usually say, “That was actually fun” by the end.

Sessions are fast, sleek, and not tedious — designed to be enjoyable, engaging, and something your family will genuinely remember fondly.

5. After Your Session

You’ll receive your gallery link with beautifully edited images in my signature warm, earthy, natural style — consistent with what you see on my website and Instagram.

Your gallery will include:

  • A mix of candid and gently posed moments

  • The in‑between interactions that show your family’s real personality

  • A selection of images that feel timeless, heartfelt, and true to who you are

Delivery details and next steps are included in your prep guide so nothing feels confusing or rushed.
