GET TO KNOW ME

For Families Who Want to Remember the Moments That Matter

Hi, I’m Trish — the photographer behind Wattle & Wildflower.

I create warm, natural, editorial‑style family photography for families who want images that feel honest, joyful, and beautifully unposed. My sessions are relaxed, fun, and designed to feel easy for everyone — yes, even the kids and the husband.

Wattle & Wildflower exists for one reason:

To help families hold onto the moments that matter before life changes in ways we never expect.

Why I Do What I Do

I’ve always believed in the power of a photograph — but life has shown me just how important it truly is.

I’ve experienced grief. I’ve lived through seasons where everything changed in a heartbeat. And I’ve felt the ache of wishing I had captured more… wishing I had one more photo, one more moment frozen in time.

In 2025, my brother had a life‑altering accident that left him paralysed.

Just a week earlier, at Christmas, I promised I’d bring my camera to photograph his family. In the chaos of the day, I forgot. One week later, everything changed — and I would give anything to have those images of him in his prime, laughing with his kids, living life fully.

That moment reshaped everything for me.

So take it from someone who knows:

capture the memories now — before the kids grow up, before life shifts, before you wish you had.

These photos become the things we hold onto. The things that make us smile. The things that remind us of how life felt.

This is why Wattle & Wildflower exists.

This is why I photograph families with so much heart.

My Journey Into Photography

My story began in an unexpected place — working in IT for a national newspaper during the Sydney 2000 Olympics. I spent my days helping news photographers troubleshoot their gear and my nights watching them freeze history in a split second.

I saw the emotion, the grit, the triumph.

I saw how a single frame could hold a story.

And I fell in love with photography.

One night during the 1999 State of Origin series, a broadband outage nearly stopped an iconic image from making the next day’s paper. We scrambled, switched to dial‑up, and somehow got it through.

The next morning, it was on the front page.

That rush — that mix of urgency, emotion, and storytelling — never left me.

GET TO KNOW ME

From Travel to Motherhood

Through my tech career, I photographed everything I loved — travel, friends, moments that mattered.

Then in 2013, after having my first baby, I joined a mothers’ group full of tired, overwhelmed new mums. I started photographing them and their babies on my deck, just for practice.

Those tiny sessions turned into family sessions.

Those families told their friends.

And slowly, a new path opened.

That was the beginning of my family photography journey.

THE EVERYTHING PHOTOGRAPHER

From Corporate to Creative

While working in the technology department of a major airline, I was asked to photograph events, staff branding, and marketing imagery. It was the perfect blend of my tech brain and creative heart.

But when my second child arrived, I needed more flexibility than corporate life could offer.

So in 2018, I took the leap into full‑time photography.

I photographed everything — families, brands, events, weddings, even kindy photos.

Every experience shaped me, refined my style, and strengthened my belief in the power of honest, heartfelt imagery.

Wattle & Wildflower + StoryLens Media

Today, I run two complementary creative businesses:

Wattle & Wildflower

My warm, earthy, editorial family photography brand — created to help families preserve the moments that matter most.

StoryLens Media

My commercial brand strategy and premium content studio — where I help leaders, founders, and professionals elevate their visibility with strategic storytelling and high‑end imagery.

Two sides of the same coin: one rooted in family, memory, and emotion — the other in strategy, clarity, and creative direction.

Both exist because I believe stories deserve to be told beautifully.

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE

What’s Next

In 2025, I opened a new studio in Samford — a light‑filled space designed for both digital projects and photography. A place where creativity, strategy, and storytelling can live side by side.

Mission

My mission is simple:

To capture life’s genuine moments and make people’s lives brighter — one smile, one memory, one photograph at a time.

Values

Honouring People and Their Stories

Every family carries a story worth remembering. I’m committed to capturing those stories with honesty, care, and deep respect — preserving the moments you’ll want to hold onto long after life changes.

Authenticity Above All

Real connection is at the heart of everything I create. No forced smiles, no stiff poses — just genuine emotion, honest moments, and images that feel true to who you are.

Creativity with Purpose

Every session is approached with intention and artistry. I look for the in‑between moments, the unexpected details, and the natural beauty that makes your family unique.

Warmth, Ease, and Comfort

A relaxed environment creates the most meaningful images. I foster a space where everyone — kids, partners, grandparents — feels comfortable, welcome, and at ease.

Joy in the Experience

Photography should feel fun, light, and memorable. I bring positivity and playfulness to every session, turning even the most chaotic family moments into something beautiful.

Integrity and Trust

Your memories matter. I honour that responsibility with transparency, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering what I promise — every single time.
